This has turned accommodation and property in central areas overlooking the holy mosque at record high prices, and building land has now become some of the most costly in the world.
Providing an innovative accommodation solution, this fully legalized “Sharia” compliant development is expected to accommodate thousands of Muslim families. One of the most important features of this project is the location - outer side of the tunnels of King Abdul Aziz's door, which leads directly to the entrance to Al-Masjid Al-Haram. Combining price, convenience, location and a variety of options mingled with 5-star utilities and services, the Meridien Towers development will allow the sale and trading of thousands of housing units in Mecca for specific periods of time at a fixed price. Each unit can be purchased by the head leaseholder in multiples of days for a period of 25 years and be used, sub-let or given away as a gift. Each unit has a potential maximum letting period of 57 weeks, for instance, in any given Hijri year with the balance used as a maintenance periods spread throughout the year. This allows the unit to be shared by as much as 48 members, thus maximising the use of space. The leaseholders need not make any prior reservation arrangements before their regular entitlement time. They just arrive and occupy the place.
In addition to superior architecture, latest electrical appliances, and five star facilities all purchasers will benefit by a 25 year visa by Saudi immigration authorities for their period stay and ownership. To add further value to the project, the towers are characterized by their internationally acknowledged brand name, Le Meridien, which is well reputed in providing hotel services. Le Meridien or the World Meridien Company will be responsible for the management and supervision of all the hotel units within the eight towers.

This new project named Le Meridien Hotel Towers tries to cope with some of this demand and is being hailed as one of the largest investment projects in the field of hotel housing units in the holy capital, Mecca. It includes luxurious hotel housing units in Mecca, and consists of eighth adjacent buildings, comprising of 21 floors each, which secure and comfortable accommodation for Umrah (minor pilgrimage) and pilgrimage performers.
These luxurious towers are currently being constructed on approximately 8,362 square meters of land and will eventually have a façade of nearly 400 meters in length. They will contain 2,400 rooms of which 1,335 will be made up of hotel suits for individuals to purchase on a 25 year renewable lease on a time sharing programme. Offering a range of studios, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, the design of each building will be very much focused on meeting the day to day demands and services of the pilgrims, such as the availability of toilets and washrooms in each unit, kitchen facilities and a full furniture package.
